Welcome to the North Texas Crime Prevention Association

Welcome to the North Texas Crime Prevention Association website. We are one of the nine regional Associations that together constitutes the Texas Crime Prevention Association. Our region serves the following counties in north Texas: Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Henderson, Hunt, Hopkins, Kaufman, Lamar, Rains, Rockwall, Tarrant and Van Zandt.

Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in furthering the cause of Crime Prevention. Although many of our members are employed by law enforcement organizations, we have both individual and corporate members who are involved in their individual communities in furthering their Crime Prevention efforts. There are various levels of participation, as explained further in the Membership Information section. We welcome your active participation.

The overall purpose of this website is to provide education and resources to citizens of the State of Texas related to Crime Prevention. Additionally, it serves as a source of research for our members in finding literature, presentations, teaching aides and other specific course content intended to make it easier for them to achieve their Crime Prevention goals and objectives.

We welcome your questions and comments. Whether you have content to offer or questions about specific programs, we encourage and value your input. We trust that you will find valuable and useful information while visiting our website and will return often to further your Crime Prevention goals.

President's Letter

Crime Prevention has evolved since the 1970’s and the TCPA has been on the front line from the beginning. As one of the nine Texas regional associations the NTCPA is dedicated to helping its members reduce crime in any way possible by promoting programs, education and building bonds between law enforcement and the public in an effort to create a safer society for all. That is why we ask all of our members to please recruit not just other agencies but citizens as well. Programs such as drug awareness, McGruff, National Night Out, Citizens on Patrol, Sky Watch Towers, etc., just to name a few are the stepping stones to building safer communities.

As the first full-time Crime Prevention Officer of my police department I trained and learned how to do my job from the members of this association so I truly believe in what the NTCPA has to offer each of us as we share our knowledge with each other. This Association is about its members and only exists because of its members. We are each commissioned to carry the torch of crime prevention and help light the ones that stand with us shoulder to shoulder.

Our region has been the largest in Texas and not just due to geographical reasons but because its members are dedicated to involvement and sharing which was prevalent since the first time I ever attended a monthly meeting/training session. I challenge each of you to make that next step in not only promoting the NTCPA but also pushing forward with the next program in your department or neighborhood. Growth in crime prevention is the future of our field and agencies are really starting to grasp this concept so do whatever it takes to keep it on the cutting edge where you live and work.

I look forward to serving as President of the NTCPA and encourage all of you to please not to hesitate to contact me if you have a question, idea, critique, proposal, suggestion or whatever reason so that it can be addressed promptly. We are all a piece of the puzzle so please make it to the table and together we will all be able to make Texas the safest state in the U.S. I want to thank you personally for doing what you do and doing it with the best of your ability.
